DSC & GPS-Enhanced Safety Capabilities
The M330G features full Class D Digital Selective Calling with a dedicated Channel 70 receiver that continuously monitors for distress and other DSC calls even while you're communicating on another channel. The dedicated DSC receiver meets ITU-R M.493-14 standards for reliability. The integrated GPS receiver is the key safety advantage - your exact position is automatically transmitted with every distress call, allowing rescue services to locate you immediately without any manual input required. Program your MMSI number once and gain instant access to one-button GPS-enabled distress calling, individual calling to other DSC-equipped vessels with position sharing, group calling, all ships calling, urgency and safety announcements, position request and report functions, polling request, and DSC test calls. The M330G can also receive and display positions from other vessels' DSC calls. The DSC log stores received calls with position data for later review. A large red DISTRESS button on the front panel provides immediate emergency access.
GPS Navigation Features
The built-in GPS receiver provides continuous position, navigation, and time information displayed on the full dot-matrix screen. View your latitude and longitude coordinates, speed over ground (SOG), course over ground (COG), and UTC time at a glance. The supplied external GPS antenna with 5-meter cable allows flexible mounting on a cabin top, t-top, hardtop, or other location with clear sky view for optimal satellite reception. The GPS receiver acquires signals from GPS, GLONASS, and SBAS satellite systems for faster acquisition and improved accuracy. Position data is also output via NMEA 0183 to chartplotters and other navigation equipment, allowing the M330G to serve as a GPS source for your entire electronics system. The GPS-derived position information is essential for DSC distress calling and position reporting, making the M330G a complete safety and communication solution.
Icom Advanced Technologies
- AquaQuakeâ„¢ Water Draining: Exclusive Icom technology vibrates the speaker to forcefully expel water from the speaker grille after exposure to spray or rain. Prevents muffled audio and maintains clear communication quality in wet conditions. Simply press the AquaQuake button and water is expelled in seconds.
- Integrated GPS/DSC System: The built-in GPS receiver seamlessly integrates with the Class D DSC system, automatically including your position in distress calls and position reports. No manual position entry required - the system handles everything automatically for enhanced safety and ease of use.
- Intuitive Marine User Interface: Icom's purpose-built marine interface combines a 4-direction keypad with context-sensitive soft keys that change function based on the current operation. Most frequently used features are always one button press away. The full dot-matrix amber display shows channel number, GPS position, transmit/receive status, DSC information, scan status, and settings simultaneously.
- Class-Leading RF Performance: Advanced receiver circuitry delivers superior selectivity and intermodulation performance exceeding 70 dB. This means reliable, clear communication even in crowded RF environments like busy marinas where multiple radios are transmitting simultaneously. Reduces interference and improves reception of weak signals.
Connectivity & Integration
The M330G features comprehensive NMEA 0183 input/output for integration with marine electronics. The GPS receiver can output position data to chartplotters, autopilots, and other NMEA-compatible devices, serving as a GPS source for your entire boat. You can also connect an external GPS receiver if desired. The NMEA output provides GPS position data, DSC call information, and navigation information to chartplotters and multifunction displays. An external speaker jack allows connection of the SP-37 or other 4-8Ω marine speakers for improved audio in noisy environments or when the radio is mounted in a location where the built-in speaker is difficult to hear. The supplied HM-235B hand microphone includes channel up/down keys and a quick-access CH16/Call channel button for convenient operation.
