The ANDREW 42396A-1 is a standard stainless steel butterfly hanger for supporting 1-1/4 in coaxial cable (including HELIAX LDF6-50A) and EW64 elliptical waveguide on tower and rooftop cable runs. Sold as a pack of 10. Originally manufactured under CommScope, this part is now produced by ANDREW, an Amphenol company, following Amphenol's 2025 acquisition of CommScope's Outdoor Wireless Networks business. It is the same part with the same 42396A-1 part number.
What the 42396A-1 Does
Butterfly hangers grip the transmission line around its full circumference and mount to a 3/8 in (M10) drilled hole in cable ladder, tower member, or mounting bracket. Each hanger supports one cable run. The captive threaded stud and clip design installs from one side without loose hardware falling down the tower. Hangers can be stacked up to 1 in high for parallel runs sharing one mounting point.
Compatibility
- 1-1/4 in corrugated coaxial cable (nominal), including HELIAX LDF6-50A
- EW64 elliptical waveguide (5.925 to 7.125 GHz microwave band)
- Compatible cable outer diameter: 1.48 in to 1.7 in (37.6 mm to 43.2 mm)
- Mounting: 3/8 in (M10) drilled cable ladder or angle adapter
Built for Tower Environments
Stainless steel construction rated for a minimum of 500 hours in salt spray with no degradation, an operating range of -40 to +185 F, vibration survival of at least 4 hours at resonant frequency, and structural capacity of double the cable weight. Electrical impact on the line is negligible at 0.1 dB return loss and DTF effect. RoHS and REACH-SVHC compliant, produced under ISO 9001:2015.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 42396A-1 a CommScope or Andrew part?
Both. It was sold under CommScope from 2007 to early 2025. Amphenol acquired CommScope's Outdoor Wireless Networks business in January 2025 and revived the ANDREW brand. The part number, specs, and fitment are unchanged.
What cable does the 42396A-1 fit?
Any 1-1/4 in nominal corrugated coax with an outer diameter between 1.48 and 1.7 in, including HELIAX LDF6-50A, plus EW64 elliptical waveguide.
What hole size does it mount to?
A 3/8 in (M10) drilled hole in cable ladder or a compatible angle adapter. Mounting hardware for the ladder side is not included.
How many hangers do I need per run?
Standard practice is one hanger every 3 ft of vertical run for 1-1/4 in cable. A 200 ft tower run typically needs about 67 hangers, so plan on seven 10-packs.
How many cables per hanger?
One. For multiple parallel runs, stack hangers up to 1 in total stack height on a single mounting point.
